Student Excellence News

Over multiple Wednesdays in term 3 and 4, Carnegie Primary School had the privilege of sending two teams to participate in the John Monash Science School Primary School Outreach Program. My teammates and I, Nhi, Thet, Rishika, Sebastian, Anush, Asher and Brannan were lucky enough to attend. We were taught by the John Monash Science School students. We had four sessions, number one was all about biology, number two was all about chemistry, number three was all about physics and number four was just general science filled with fun experiments.

At the conclusion of the four sessions we were given the opportunity to present our research project at the Science Fair Night. My team tested the Ph levels of pre and post heated cooking liquids. We did the experiment at school and filmed it so we could show it to people on the night. The other team experimented with what elements affected the flight of paper planes. They also conducted their experiment at school and presented their results on the night. It was a great experience and if people get the opportunity next year, I would recommend taking part.

I would like to thank Miss Miller, Miss Cogan and Mr Nathan for supporting us with our project and supplying us with the tools we needed.
