With Easter not too far away we would like to put a call out to the VRS community for Easter raffle donations please.
Donations can be anything easter themed - craft activities, dress ups, toys and of course chocolate!
Raffle tickets will be sent home with students today. If you require more please let the classroom teacher or school office know.
We greatly appreciate your generosity and look forward to seeing who the lucky winners at our end of term assembly!
Parents & carers are invited to provide feedback on our new PBS Matrix of Expectations, this Wednesday 13th March at 10:30am. There will be morning tea provided.
The Victorian Government is investing $1.5 million to provide FREE ‘Little Angler Kits’ to all primary aged students at specialist schools, including Verney Road School.
The kits include a rod, reel with line, tackle tray, some tackle and information on how to use them to catch a fish.
These free fishing kits can be collected by parents & carers from the VRS Front Office.
Contact us if you would like us to put one aside for you - call (03) 5821 8185.
Please note that the tackle tray includes fishing hooks and lead sinkers. The tackle tray will be wrapped in cardboard and placed inside a pocket inside the fishing kit bag, which will be sealed with a cable tie to discourage students from opening their kits until they are with a parent or carer. We are unable to send these home on buses for safety reasons.
This initiative aims to grow recreational fishing participation in Victoria by actively encouraging primary school aged children to learn how to fish, as well as learning more about marine life and the natural environment.
On Thursday, Year 11 student Kobe Wilson participated in the Interschool Swimming Championships held at the Aquamoves outdoor pool. The event run by School Sport Victoria, involves schools from across the region.
Kobe competed in the freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke events for his age and finished first in all - superstar!! Kobe will now be going through to the next round in Wodonga.
A big congratulations to Kobe on this fantastic achievement - we wish him the best of luck in Wodonga!
Please note the following important dates where school will be closed:
*The final day of Term 1 is Thursday 28th March and students will finish school an hour earlier. Buses will also run an hour earlier on this day.
A reminder that the Department of Education has in place a mobile phone ban that requires students who bring mobile phones to school to have them switched off and securely put away during school hours.
This helps to ensure that school is a learning environment free from unnecessary distractions and disruptions.
We ask for the support of all our families, staff and students in continuing to support the implementation of this policy in our school.
Students who bring their phones/smart watches/ear buds to school are required to lock them away from the start of the day until home time. Exceptions are only allowed in a limited number of circumstances. Please contact your child's Unit Leader if you require more information.
Enjoy your weekend 😄
