Giving it all...

Literacy

In our English classes within The Code, we have had a lot of fun exploring words that include the great Australian 'schwa'. We have been identifying the unaccented syllable, and the lazy vowels within the word that are replaced with the 'schwa'. In our Grammar lessons, the students have been working on identifying the independent and dependent clauses within a complex sentence, and ensuring they have punctuated them appropriately.

In Spanish, we have been working on writing a letter to our new Spanish PenPal for 2024. To do this, students have been creating mind maps of what they must include in their letters. In addition, as a fun project, they have been doing some PopArt with one hand for ‘All About Me’ (Todod sobre Mi) and the other hand for “I Like” (me gusta).

We look forward to sharing this with you.

Maths

Our maths lessons across Spanish and English have been focused on place value, order of operations, and rounding and estimating numbers up to a trillion.

Wellbeing

Through the model of Respectful Relations Resources, students have been learning about trust, when to ask for help, and when to resolve things they can by themselves.

The Respectful Relationships model supplied by the Department has ensured students learn to explore and apply the notion of trust and courage in help-seeking in a fun and meaningful way.

Interschool Sports

Week 4  interschool sports was a home game.  We hosted St Pauls and are so so proud of the efforts and sportsmanship our students displayed.   A massive shout out to the parents who came along and cheered the kids on from the sidelines.  It is much appreciated!

Sentral parent calendar has all our upcoming games.

Sexuality Education

Our sexuality education program commenced this week. Students have been engaging in learning centered around sexuality, gender, stereotyping, and the scientific names of our body parts.  A big thanks to all the parents who engaged in the homework.  We are certain that the conversations would have been interesting!
