School Council Election

We are currently in the process of electing parents for our 2024 school council. The attached page has our five parents who have been nominated to fill the three-parent vacancies for the 2024 school council. We thank all parent nominees who have volunteered to support our school's direction and success.

We will be sending out voting packs to all families with the oldest child enrolled at Newlands Primary School. We will send out a SENTRAL notification on the day indicating the voting pack has been sent home.

Annual Implementation Plan

Today in this newsletter we have attached our 2024 Annual Implementation Plan [AIP] for families to understand our educational direction for 2024. The purpose of the AIP is to focus the school's educational direction as part of our overall School Strategic Plan.

Dropping off & Picking up children

As we now settle into a daily routine of drop off and pick up we would like families to follow some fundamental requests. We ask that parents do not 'hover' around the entrances to classrooms. We would prefer that parents gather in the quadrangle and wait for the child to come to you.

International visitors

Today we had a group of educators from Spain attend the school to observe our bilingual program in action. This was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our language program in our fantastic new buildings. They were extremely impressed with the skills of our students and their confidence to engage in conversation with our visitors.

Building Updates

We will be installing our bag hooks in the coming weeks as per the design brief. We appreciate your feedback and initial concern regarding lunches being outside. Once the bag hooks are up, the lunches will continue to be stored indoors as we have done this term. We intend to provide specially constructed shelving where the children can store their lunch boxes.

Landscaping

We appreciate many parents have raised concerns about the dying trees and plants. This concern has been raised with the construction company who are working with landscapers to rectify the situation.

2025 Enrolments

It was great to see our families attend today's meet and greet. This is a wonderful opportunity for our community to meet the staff and get to know our community.
