Meet the Team

Recognise these faces?

Jack Anderson and Isabella Ferris are past students of St Joseph's College, having just completed Year 12 in 2023. We were thrilled when they both accepted traineeship positions with us this year and they are both already making a positive contribution as members of our staff and with their interaction with the students!

We had a quick chat with Jack and Isabella to see how they are finding their new role. Here's what they had to say!

Why did you apply for a traineeship at St Joseph's College?

Jack - "I really enjoyed my leadership position as one of the College Captains last year and I thought it would be a great opportunity to build on that experience and continue helping students while taking a GAP year before starting university."

Isabella - "I really enjoy learning environments and helping people. I have an interest in becoming a teacher one day so I thought this would be a great way to get some expereince and see what the profession is really like."

What does the role involve?

Isabella - "We are currently working with students in Year 7 and 8 at Kildare Campus to help them settle into school, make them feel welcome, confident and comfortable to ask questions. We help breakdown or modify tasks to ensure students understand what they are required to do and help them get the learning support they need."

Jack - "We often work one on one in the classroom with students who might need a little bit of extra support or those at the other end of the spectrum who might need an extra push to extend and challenge themselves."

What do you love about the role?

Isabella - "I love the process of learning and it's really fun to learn with the students and help them understand new things. It's really rewarding to know you are helping someone and that you can be someone that the students trust."

Jack - "I love getting to know the students and building relationships with them in order to be someone they can trust and talk to if they need help."

How does it feel to be on the other side of the classroom?

Isabella - "It actually doesn't feel that different. I've always had positive relationships with the teachers and staff at school so it feels really comfortable to be working with them."

Jack - "The biggest challenge has been learning to call the teachers by their first names!"
