Captains' Corner

Gloria Jada and Sherlyn Antony - Faith and Mission Captains 2024

Hi everyone, my name is Gloria Jada, and I’m in Year 12 and from Phoenix House.

My plans for 2024, as your Faith and Mission Captain is to continue to have faith in others, service in the community, always being there for students when they need support, and to leave a legacy to the St John’s community for future Captains to work on.  My hobbies are drawing and riding my bike all around the park, the sport I play is Basketball, and last but definitely not least, the Extra-curricular activities I’m in are the College Choir, The Social Justice Committee, and the Student Representative Council. My hopes for the future are to study at RMIT and become a Youth Worker or a disability worker because I like helping and supporting whenever there is a need.  I am looking forward to working with each one of you this year as your Faith and Mission Captain.  I hope you enjoy your day!  Gloria Jada.

Hello everyone, I am Sherlyn Antony, currently a Year 12 student from Columba :)

As Captains, we thrive to make changes in our College community, and as Faith and Mission Captains we have a strong drive to reinforce faith in everyone’s life with the smallest actions. We have several initiatives on the plate and are getting started one after the other. Currently, we have morning fellowship prayer that is all about getting together and having fun while at the same time praying and reconnecting with God. We have some ideas about clubs and programs that we are excited to get started on. I have to thank all the teachers and staff that are supporting us through this journey while we manage our other activities as well. I am a big fan of movies and art. I recently started learning some languages and drums. I do classical dancing and I’ve been trained for more than a decade. I am fascinated by science and hope to pursue something in the science field after school. But after all, I strongly believe that anyone can make anyone’s day better with a small act, and that’s what I will try to do. Always put a smile on and seize the day!  It is my pleasure to serve you all as Faith and Mission Captain and hope you all have a great weekend with loads of laughter.  Sherlyn Antony.
