Permission to Publish

Thanks to the families that have already completed the Permission to Publish form on COMPASS.

As mentioned previously, at Martin's Gully, this mostly involves publishing photos of your child in our newsletter or on our school's Facebook page. You will note that when we do publish such photos, we only use your child's first name.

The permission to publish consent form is now available in COMPASS. The form is available to the parent listed as the primary carer.  If you can't see it please check with your partner.  We require all families to complete this form.  Please contact Dawn if you have any troubles locating the form.

Application for Extended Leave

I've heard on the grape vine that a number of families are considering having an extended holiday travelling within Australia.  Families considering such travel, need to complete an Application for Extended leave for their children.  A copy of the form is attached, or you can obtain one from the office.

Armidale Zone Swimming Champions

Congratulations to our Armidale Zone swimming champions.  This year, four Martin's Gully students were named age champions, Eily 11yr girls, Lilly senior girls, Lia junior girls and Nixon junior boys.  This is an outstanding achievement.  The North West carnival is on Monday 11 March.

Zone Tennis

Congratulations to Maddie, Josh and Olivia on being selected to represent the Armidale Zone at the North West Tennis Trials to be held in Gunnedah on the 25th March.

This week we have basketball trials on Thursday and cricket on Friday.

Armidale Show Success

Congratulations to Kindergarten who received a Highly Commended for their artwork on the theme of Sew it/Sow it/Grow it/Show It.

Olivia and Greyson also had a very successful show, entering in various flower, vegetable, model building, cooking and needlework categories. Winners are grinners!!

Brodie achieved 3rd in the 12 years and under parader's class and then his steer got 5th in the school steer competition.  Brodie bred this steer and helped break him in as well.

Amelia and her horse Silverthorn Wills finished the show with Reserve Champion Hack and Reserve Champion District Rider.

Whole school disco

The SRC will be running a whole school disco on Thursday 14 March.  Cost will be $5 per child to go towards a popper and packet of chips.  Any additional money raised will go towards Ronald McDonald House, a charity nominated by the SRC.  The disco will start at 5.30pm and conclude at 7.00pm.  The theme for the disco is CRAZY!! This could be CRAZY hair or CRAZY clothes.

Assembly

Stage 2 will be presenting at this Friday's assembly. The assembly will start at 12.30pm.

PAX Word of the Fortnight: HEALTH

  • Health means to be free from illness. You feel well, fit and good inside. Here are some ideas to discuss at home:
  •  How many hours of sleep do you need to feel good?
  • How much water should you drink every day?
  • How many fruits and vegetables are recommended each day?
  • What are some ways you can keep a healthy mind at school and at home?
