Well done to Mirabel and Charlotte who represented St Anthony's in the Sydney Catholic Schools Regional Championships. Both girls put in in an amazing effort with Charlotte advancing to the NSW Mackillop Athletics Championships in the long jump. The girls have written about their experience in this weeks newsletter:
Charlotte - "On Friday the 30th of August I went to the Sydney Catholic Schools athletics competition. I raced in the 100m sprint and the long jump event. I came 7th in 100m overall and my time was 14.37 seconds. In the long jump i came 1st place and i jumped 3m 79cm. I am really looking forward to competing in the next round at the NSW Mackillop Athletics Championships on Wednesday 25th September in Homebush."
Mirabel - "On Friday, the 30th of August I ran 100 metres at the Sydney Catholic Schools regionals, the second level of the Zone Athletics Championships. In my race I came 6th in my heat and overall I was 17th with a running time of about 15.37 with 9 other people in my race. It was out at Olympic Park, Homebush and it was very cool to see all of the equipment that is used. The experience was both nerve-racking and exciting but I am mainly proud of myself for making it that far into the zone and representing my school for the last time. This year has been the only year that I've made it to this level of running and I know that a lot of people are proud of me for what I have achieved. I am very thankful for all of those people who have supported me and stood by my side before and after my race. I enjoyed having Charlotte there with me, and was glad that I got to see her race and do a great job. Overall, I loved racing and getting the chance to make it to regionals and represent St Anthony’s while doing it."
BEST OF LUCK CHARLOTTE AT MACKILLOP
K to 6 had great fun when Next Level Soccer Australia came to visit on Monday 2nd of September for a coaching clinic. Lewis and his coaching team had our students practising a variety of football skills and improving our fitness. The children were highly engaged and gave Miss Claffey great feedback on their Sport lessons.
Following on from two successful and engaging coaching clinics with Michael (Games Development Officer from the NRL) we are excited to offer the following opportunity to children at St Anthony's:

Sydney Catholic Schools is responsible for the provision of representative sport pathway trials for students in Years 5 and 6 in the following sports: Diving, Softball, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Rugby 7s (GIRLS ONLY), Soccer, Hockey and Netball. Representative sport pathway trials for students in Years 4 and 5 are offered for the following sports in Term 4: AFL, Basketball, Golf (Years 3-6), Cricket, Touch Football and Tennis.
The school-run Athletics Carnival, Swimming Carnival and Cross Country Trials are held for the purposes of selecting students to represent our school in the SCS representative sport pathway. Children must be turning 8-years-old or are older in the year of competition e.g. if a child is born in 2011-2016 for the 2024 competition they are eligible to be selected. This policy is according to Catholic Schools New South Wales who oversees Sydney Catholic Schools Sports.
Representative Pathway Trials 2025
The following dates have been given for Pathway Trials for next year. If there is enough interest, the children will have a school trial before the dates given below. Please note that if your child is going to be nominated after the trial held here in school it will be the parents/carers responsibility to transport their child to and from the venue. Children being nominated need to demonstrate a high level of skill development and talent in the sport and the student is to have experience playing in regular competitions of that sport outside of school. Trials are for students in year 4 and year 5.
Please have a look at the table below highlighting all dates. Please also note some are Conference trials and others Sydney Trials. If you believe your child meets the above requirements please contact Miss Claffey through info@staclovelly.catholic.edu.au
