Additionally, students have been introduced to proper ukulele techniques, including how to hold the instrument correctly and learning how to strum the C chord. They’ve practiced singing along while playing and have enjoyed learning a variety of songs, including a specialist Olympic song.
Year 1 and 2
This term in Performing Arts, Year 1 and 2 , students have been exploring musical concepts through their voices and instruments, focusing on the slow, long, and short sounds. They have practiced these concepts while singing the Olympic Specialist song, incorporating varying note lengths and tempos. Additionally, students have learned to play the ukulele, mastering how to hold the instrument properly and play C and F chords. They have also enjoyed singing and playing a range of different songs and instruments, applying their new skills in a fun and engaging way.
Year 3 and 4
This term in Performing Arts, Year 3 and 4 students have explored various techniques for singing and playing instruments, focusing on dynamics and tempos. They have learned Italian dynamics, music terms and signs, which are essential for understanding music. Applying this knowledge, students have practiced these concepts with the Specialist Olympic song. They have refreshed their skills in holding the ukulele correctly and playing the C, F, and G chords, and have enjoyed singing a variety of songs while accompanying themselves on the ukulele. Additionally, students have had the chance to experience playing percussion instruments, further expanding their musical skills.
Year 5 and 6
This term in Performing Arts, Year 5 and 6 students have engaged in a creative project where they composed their own Specialist Olympic song. They crafted original lyrics inspired by current Olympic or Paralympic athletes and composed melodies using an instrument of their choice or an online music platform. Students then performed their compositions, showcasing their creativity and musical skills. Additionally, they continued to develop their ukulele skills, learning to play the C, F, and G chords and singing a range of songs. They also had the opportunity to explore percussion instruments, adding further depth to their musical experience.
