SENSATIONAL SENIOR HOOPTIME DAY!

Last Friday we had 34 of our Year 5&6 students participate in the much - anticipated Basketball Victoria HOOPTIME tournament at MSAC.   All four teams are to be congratulated on their hard-fought efforts and great teamwork displayed over the day. And… oh what a finish to the day we HAD!  All teams made it through to the finals, with our All Star Boys and All Star Girls making the grand final of their division and WON!  We then had both our Future Star Flames and Falcons play off in the cross-pool semi-final, to only get a result after two extra-times!  The FS Falcons ended up coming away with the win, then playing St. Joseph’s Elsternwick in the Grand Final.  After a tightly played game, the buzzer foul and 2 shots from the line saw St. Jo’s win, however with one team member not playing in the correct division, the result was quickly overturned and our SF Falcons were awarded the win!

Congratulations goes to all four teams - they all played well as a team and when the pressure was applied, they were able to show impressive calmness to keep working well as a team.

We’d like to pass on a HUGE THANK YOU to ALL the Senior HoopTime parents that gave up their day to help coach, manage and score for their child’s team - there’s too many to mention!   We are very grateful for this amazing community of families that we have here at St. Finbar’s.  Special thanks also goes to our staff member Sue Humble, who also supported Tania with the students over the day.

JUNIOR HOOPTIME - NEXT TUESDAY!

We now have our four Year 3&4 HoopTime teams heading off next Tuesday to MSAC to play in their round robin basketball tournament.  This will be the first inter-school event for many of them, so they are all very excited.  We wish them all the very best.  Thank you to the many parents that have already offered their support for this event.  If any other parent is able to help for at least half a day or two hours, please email Tania.  Mr Anderson and Miss Antonio will be the attending staff on this day.

FINBAR LEADERS PREP FOOTY CLINIC

On Tuesday this week our Finbar Leaders helped run an AFL Football Clinic for any keen Prep on the Thomas Sherry court.  Our leaders helped develop their drop-punt kicking skills and marking efforts.  Well done to Amelia, Brooklyn, Abby and Alannah for organising this clinic for our Preps! Lots of fun was had!

DISTRICT ATHLETICS - Friday 23rd August.
