To my delight we have had several students asking to share their Music exam pieces in Performing Arts classes lately. I love the mutual respect these experiences build; for students to feel comfortable to share a challenging piece but also for others to see their peers' talents and persistence in their personal goals. You will find lots of open mouths in amazement during these moments :o
Beethoven's infamous piece was heard in the theatre this week from focused classes of Grade 5 and 6 students. We had the tuned instruments out and were practising reading music on the treble clef. Their teamwork, energy and focus was exceptional. Those students who can read music capably already were challenged to add their own chord choices into their pieces.
Grade 4 students were sounding great this week as they learnt notes B, A, and G on the recorders. This culminated with an awesome rendition of 'Eye of the Tiger' by the end of the lesson. You may have seen an extra spark of motivation when they headed home as it's hard not to get pepped up from that catchy anthem.
In Grade 2 and 3 we are starting to decide our 'favourite' cup rhythms after trying several out these past few weeks. Students have shown grit and practise to nail 'Slide' Slide and 'Cup Song' cup song movie versionfrom Pitch Perfect. Just working on our speed now!
Prep and Grade 1 students have started making their recycled instruments this week. Please keep sending in bottles, metal lids, cardboard rolls and tins etc. Collection boxes are in Prep/Grade 1 area and the theatre. We can't wait to bring home our finished work to play for you!
