Senior School
Literacy
In weeks 5 & 6 in Literacy, we have been focusing on inferring and finding unfamiliar words when we read. Students have been working really hard on staying up to date with the book club groups and are enjoying exploring new types of texts. Students have also started to write their own narratives. They are hooking the reader with Sizzling Starts and using their new planning templates. Students are also exploring the new concepts of planning events with the pebble, rock and boulder method.
Maths
Our students are delving deeper into the world of fractions. They'll learn to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions, understanding how to multiply numerators and denominators separately. They are exploring equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions to their lowest terms. Additionally, students will work with mixed numbers and improper fractions, learning to convert between the two. By the end of our unit, students should have a solid grasp of fraction operations and be able to apply their knowledge to real-world problems.
Book Week
On Wednesday the 21st of August, ACPS had their Book Week celebration for 2024. The Grade 5 and 6 students did not fail to impress the school with their creative and spectacular costumes. We had MM's, Care Bears, Grandmas, Wiggles, Cat in the Hat, Harry Potter characters, the famous Russell Coight, Indiana Jones and so many more. The students had a fantastic day completing activities based around different 2024 Book Week finalists.
