Grade 1 and 2
Book Week 2024
The magic of reading was alive and on show at ACPS and everyone was dressed from head to toe as many wonderful characters from a range of books that we love and enjoy. Book Week encourages our students to exercise their imagination by exploring the worlds of characters and learning how authors bring stories to life in the most creative and delightful ways. We had many reading genres covered from fairytales, fantasy, action, sports and comics. This wide range shows the depth across our enjoyment of reading.
Reading is Magic! When you hold a book, inside those two covers lie amazing experiences and characters reaching far…into space. A book holds a secret place full of wonder and fantastical landscapes. We all have the power to imagine.
The day was filled with the love of reading. We started with a wonderful story read by the honourable Nicole Werner, State Member for Warrandyte, which she later donated to our school. After the story, the students and teachers celebrated the beauty of Australian literature by taking part in the ACPS Book Week parade, showcasing the most wonderful costumes.Everyone looked AMAZING! Our parents, friends and special guests were truly entertained. The students then enjoyed a rotation of activities where they got to read a story from the shortlist and complete an activity.
There were many 'Where's Wally' characters running around the school and at lunchtime the students went in search for all the Wally's. There was a Wally in a tree, under the building, behind the GaGa pit and many more hiding places. The students found us all very quickly.
It was an amazing whole school event and we look forward to next year's costumes...start planning!
Thank you to Ms Zanatta for organising a fun filled day.
Have a great weekend!
