Father’s Day Mass
Last Friday 30 August we celebrated our Father’s Day Masses, continuing this annual celebration of fatherhood and the important role that our dads play in our lives. We gathered in the College Gymnasium as fathers, grandfathers, father figures and sons to celebrate Mass and spend time in reflection together. We were blessed with Father John Hayes, Parish Priest from St Martha’s Parish, Strathfield and our Chaplain Father Jack Evans who celebrated the mass with us.
I would like to thank all those who assisted on the day, the fathers and Year 12 students who helped with the readings, offertory and Eucharistic Ministers. In addition, I express gratitude to the choir and orchestra led by Ms Grape and Dr Taylor, and the morning tea organised by the P & F.
Preloved Footy Gear Drive for Needy Families in Fiji
It is that time of year again when most winter sports are finishing up and spring cleaning of the footy/soccer boots along with the footy jerseys and shorts are no longer needed and may need to be passed on or passed down.
We are leading an initiative to support a clothing drive for people in Fiji. They would like to invite you to contribute to a very worthy cause in support of needy Fijian communities and orphanages.
We are collecting the items listed below for children in needy communities in Fiji. If you have any of these preloved items that you no longer need, please bring them to school during homeroom on Tuesday 17 September to the Bangawarra Room (Coghlan 4):
The following items are being requested for donation:
- Preloved footy/soccer boots
- Preloved footy playing jerseys
- Preloved footy playing shorts.
Your kind donations are greatly appreciated.
Year 12 Spirituality Day
This Friday 6 September, Year 12 students will be engaging in a Spirituality Day. We want students to be able to develop their own sense of meaning and purpose in their life, through whatever means suits them.
All of us find God and meaning in various places from the bush to the sea to the use of the arts. We want them to take skills and knowledge, as well as the building blocks for a better life into life beyond St Patrick’s College. We want them to know and love God who gives them all things. We want them to know that the spiritual part of their being helps give them balance and comfort in a sometimes-difficult world.
How will they be able to take time out when they leave school? How will they find real meaning in life? Let us help them by giving them the basis for a full and complete life, by knowing how and where to ‘step out’.
Students have all signed up to ONE of the following activities for the day: |
---|
Art | Heart in the Art |
Literature | Reflections on Land and Sea |
Music | Exploring Music: The Soundtrack of Our Lives |
