Athletics - Term 3

Last week saw the start of the 2024 Athletics season, with the St Aloysius’ College and Knox Grammar invitational on Saturday at Sydney Olympic Park. The sun was shining, and the warm weather was a very pleasing change to all the rain we experienced throughout the Winter season. There were many personal best’s throughout the day, a special shout out to Christian Harada who ran 11.78s in the 100m, which was the best time run by any SPC boy on the day. Jack Ronzini excelled in the High Jump as well as his track events. Overall, it was a good start to the season with a lot of boys running out the cobwebs preparing for a big season ahead.

With a new season comes a new captain, I would like to officially congratulate Nathan Campbell on being announced as the Captain of Athletics for 2024. Nathan has been a member of the Athletics Squad at SPC since he arrived in Year 7 and has been doing athletics since he was in kindergarten. Nathan is a middle-distance specialist focusing on the 800m and 1500m. Nathan stated that he is extremely proud to be Captain and his goal for this season is for SPC to win the ISA School Title, which has not occurred since he was in Year 7.

Congratulations to Xavier Caristo on being named Vice-Captain, a big couple of months for Xavier having made his First XV Debut in the last few rounds of Rugby. Well done and best of luck to all involved.
