Term 3 Wrap-Up and Looking Ahead: Years 10, 11, and 12
As we approach the end of Term 3, it is an opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the Senior School students and look forward to the challenges and opportunities that Term 4 will bring. Each year group has been busy making strides and engaging in meaningful activities that prepare them for their future endeavours.
Year 10 Highlights
This term, Year 10 students embarked on an exciting adventure at the CYC Camp in Phillip Island. The camp provided an opportunity for personal growth, teamwork, and self-discovery. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to bond with their peers and develop resilience through a number of outdoor activities and challenges that included flying fox, giant swing, trampolining and abseiling.
In addition to the camp, Year 10s have been diligently applying for scholarships to Skyline and Kwong Lee Dow, which will open doors to further educational opportunities. The process of applying for scholarships is not just about securing financial support; it’s a chance for students to reflect on their achievements and future aspirations.
Subject selection has also been a significant focus this term. Students have been working hard to make informed decisions about their future academic pathways. We commend their thoughtful consideration and encourage them to seek advice and support from teachers, parents, and career advisors to ensure they make choices that align with their interests and goals.
Year 11 Achievements
Year 11 students have had a productive term, engaging in sessions that are crucial for their personal development and understanding of the world around them. They have explored topics such as managing personal finances, which will equip them with essential skills for independence. They also learned about organ donations, positive relationships and consent—key areas that contribute to their growth as responsible and informed young adults.
In addition to these important sessions, Year 11s have been gearing up for their for their transition into Year 12 next year. With a focus on both academic and personal development we encourage all Year 11’s in either the VCE or VCE-Vocational Major certificates to reflect on their year so far and look to begin that push towards their Year 12 studies throughout term 4.
Year 12 Reflections and Preparations
For Year 12 students, Term 3 has been a whirlwind of activity. Many have participated in beyond-year-12 interviews for VTAC, which covered a range of topics including SEAS, apprenticeships, scholarship opportunities, part-time jobs, and university applications. These interviews have been an important step in their transition to post-secondary life, providing clarity and direction for their future paths.
The Year 12 formal earlier this term was a memorable event, allowing students to celebrate their achievements and enjoy a well-deserved night of elegance and camaraderie. It was a fitting way to mark this stage of their academic journey and create lasting memories.
As Term 4 approaches, the focus will shift towards preparing for final exams and the submission of final pieces of work. This is a crucial period, and we encourage Year 12 students in both the VCE and VCE-Vocational major to utilise their time effectively, seek support from their teachers, and maintain a balanced approach to studying and self-care.
Looking Forward
As we head into Term 4, let’s celebrate the progress and accomplishments of our students while preparing for the challenges ahead. We wish all our students the best as they finish this term strong and look forward to the opportunities that lie ahead. Remember to stay focused, seek support when needed, and most importantly, take care of yourselves as you balance your studies with well-being.
Here’s to a successful conclusion to the year and exciting new beginnings for everyone!
