Keysborough College Newsletter - Principal’s Message
Dear Keysborough College Community,
As we come to the end of another busy term, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on how our school acts as a microcosm of the wider community. Every day, through the way we work together—students, staff, and families—we see the diversity, cooperation, and shared sense of responsibility that makes our community so special. Just like the world outside our school gates, Keysborough College is a place where we celebrate achievements, tackle challenges, and grow stronger as a community.
Celebrating Student Success
This term has been filled with outstanding achievements from our students, and I couldn’t be prouder. Our music students put on incredible performances at the Victorian Schools Music Festival, earning recognition not only for their talent but also for their teamwork and dedication. In the sporting arena, our students have excelled, particularly during the athletics carnivals, with many achieving personal bests and representing our college with great pride.
On the national stage, we’re thrilled that our students have been recognised through the prestigious Wakakirri Awards, showcasing their creativity and hard work.
However, one of the highlights this term wasn’t an award, but rather the feedback we received from a competing primary school. When asked what the best part of the event was, their students said it was working with our students. This speaks volumes about the character and values of our students, and it’s moments like these that truly reflect the spirit of Keysborough College.
Supporting School Safety
At Keysborough College, the safety and well-being of our students is a top priority. We recognise that keeping students safe is a partnership between school and home. In line with our RED values—Respect, Excellence, and Diversity—we ask families to continue supporting this work. Here are some simple tips to help:
- Keep communication open: Encourage your children to talk about their day, their friends, and any worries they might have.
- Online safety: Keep an eye on the amount of time your children spend online, and ensure they’re using safe platforms.
- Routines matter: Help your child stick to regular routines for sleep, study, and downtime, as this can reduce stress and support their well-being.
As always, the college takes any behaviour that doesn’t align with our RED values very seriously. We will continue to work to ensure that every student feels safe, supported, and respected here at school.
Looking Forward to Term 4
As we approach Term 4, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their efforts and dedication throughout the year. I hope you all have a restful and safe break. We’re especially keeping our Year 12 students in mind as they head towards their final exams and end-of-year celebrations. Let’s all rally behind them and offer our full support during this important time.
We’re also excited to welcome over 400 new Year 7 students across both campuses next year! It’s always a special time as we bring new students into our Keysborough College family.
Have a fantastic break, and I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed and ready for a big Term 4!
