Message from the Principal
Dear parents, carers and friends of EEPS,
Schools are busy places! It is sometimes easy to forget to pause to reflect on all the wonderful things and activities occurring throughout the school on a daily basis. Last week, for example we had some special science incursions for the Year 3 and 4 students, ICAS, the AFL 9’s gala day for the Year 5s and then our drone shot for National Week Against Bullying and Violence on Thursday - there is always something going on.
Assembly
At assembly on Monday, it was delightful to award Evie R her ‘Highly Commended’ certificate in the Parliament Prize competition, that was mentioned last week. Well done Evie! After our parents, carers and friends left assembly we were able to have our first whole-school rehearsal for the upcoming concert special finale song, ‘Heroes’. It is shaping up to be a special night again!
Concert - ‘Heroes’
Whilst we are on the subject of concert, please look out for the recent Newsfeed around opening up more tickets for families and also future communication around details for the night. Thank you to Mrs Bostock for coordinating a lot of the administrative components for concert, which is a big job.
Book Week
As adults we know that books open up a whole world of discovery and imagination. Books are critically important and it is for this reason that every year, like hundreds of schools, we celebrate Book Week, with different activities and celebrations. Tomorrow, Thursday we are having our special book character dress up day. Students are invited to wear their favourite book character costume and to bring a gold coin for the JSC fundraiser to support the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, a worthy cause that we have supported previously. Thank you to Mrs Casale for organising engaging year-level activities for Book Week.
Out and About
When I have visited our wonderful Crossing Supervisors over the past fortnight, they have all been extremely positive about their jobs and the way in which EEPS community members have been interacting with them. It is absolutely heartwarming to hear, especially, as we have previously had a few hiccups in this space. Thank you to everyone for being so supportive.
Parent and Carer Survey
Speaking of supportive, just a reminder that if parents or carers would like to complete the annual Department Parent and Carer survey then please have a look for the separate Compass Newsfeed from Julianne. There is a week or so to go with this.
Feedback Around EEPS Sporting Activity
It is always lovely to receive feedback from parents. Last week, one of our parents sent this in after the AFL 9’s experience for some of our Year 5 students last week:
Just wanted to say a massive thank you for letting the EEPS girls participate in the round robin yesterday. My child was so excited and came home so happy playing a sport she really loves. The day means so much to her and to see so many girls wanting to participate in girls footy is such a great step forward in promoting women’s football and being part of a team.
Interschool Sport
Well done to our Year 6 students who have been so actively engaged in the Term 3 round of interschool sport on a Friday afternoon. Feedback from Mr Bain and the other teachers involved has been overwhelmingly positive about the supportive attitude and efforts of our senior students.
Hats
A reminder that the purple and gold school hats are a required part of the school uniform and will be needed again by all students from September 1st, the week after next.
This also applies to all Year 6 students. If Year 6 students have misplaced their hats, please help us by purchasing a replacement, and then these can be ‘gifted’ to the school as spare hats, if there are no other siblings following through.
Kitchen Garden Update
It has also been heartwarming to see the levels of enjoyment and engagement over the last week in the Kitchen Garden, once again. Here is a little note from Nicole (read in conjunction to looking at the photos!):
The kids in the photos below have been visiting regularly the last few weeks. I showed them a small structure I made from some tree prunings - still standing in a garden bed after some time and suggested that they were welcome to do some creative building/sculpture with garden materials too. What you see in the photos is about 3 lunch times worth of fantastic, collaborative creativity.
Once again, so many wonderful things on the go!
Have a great week of Learning and Growing Together.
