Author Visit - Vikki Conley

The BASC building was buzzing with excitement as students from the junior school prepared for a visit by well-known author, Vikki Conley.

Vikki has been an author, nature lover and intrepid adventurer for over 20 years. Her beautiful picture books have received many awards, including the CBCA Honour Book 2022, ‘Amira’s Suitcase’.

Our Prep - Grade 2 students had read many of her books before the visit and came prepared with questions to ask Vikki about her life as an author. Our Grade 1 students focussed their Book Week activities on Vikki’s book ‘Millie and The Mulberry Tree’.

Students were highly engaged as they read the book' Where The Lyrebird Lives' and used body percussion and a range of hand-created puppets to create a rainforest habitat. The sounds of rain, wind and various birds and animals echoed around the space as students used their puppets to represent the story.

Following the presentation, students asked Vikki to sign their books.
