Hello everyone,

We are once again racing towards the end of another busy term. Students are currently completing their Common Assessment Tasks (CAT’s) in each subject. These are great opportunities for our students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have learnt throughout the term.

Once CAT’s have been completed, students will engage in feedback sessions to reflect on their CAT’s and identify where they have consolidated their understanding and what the next steps are for them to develop their knowledge and skills further. Once we have finished the CAT and feedback weeks, we will be finishing the term with our history day and Parent Teacher Student Conversations.

Parent Teacher Student Conversations

Below are the dates and times for these conversations:

  • Thursday, 19th September 3:30pm – 7pm
  • Friday, 20th September 10am – 1pm

Similar to previous interviews, parents/carers/guardians will be able to book times to speak with staff. This can be done on Compass or via the front office.

This is a great opportunity to meet with staff, in particular elective teachers who have begun working with your child this term and discuss how your child has been progressing this term. It is also a chance for you to see the work that they have produced and celebrate their achievements from across the term.

LBU Reward lunch

On Friday, the 30th of August, we acknowledged those students who have shown sustained positive learning behaviours in their classes.  Students who achieved an LBU average above 3.5 were treated to a hot chip lunch. The most recent reward lunch celebrated the largest number of students who have achieved an LBU score above 3.5 for the year. There was a 20% increase in the number of students who achieved more than an average of 3.5. Well done to those who not only achieved these great results, but also to those who had massive improvements and are continuing to work towards their own LBU goals.

Live4Life program

During Term 4, Year 8 students across Kurnai College will take part in the Live4Life program. This will involve learning about mental health and wellbeing. This will be kicked off with a launch event on Tuesday the 17th of October. More details of this event will be provided closer to the date.

I have included the short descriptor of the program from the previous newsletter for anyone who would like more detail about the program.
