Executive Principal

As we move through another busy and rewarding term at PBC, it has been wonderful to see our students embracing opportunities to connect, challenge themselves and demonstrate our Nil Sid Optima spirit both inside and outside the classroom. The energy, pride and sense of community across the school continue to make PBC a very special place to learn and grow.
This term, our Parent Teacher Interviews provided a valuable opportunity for families and teachers to work together in supporting student learning and wellbeing. These conversations are such an important part of strengthening the partnership between school and home, and I sincerely thank all parents and carers who took the time to attend and engage so positively with our staff.
Our annual Cross Country Carnival was another highlight of the term. Students demonstrated outstanding determination, resilience and house spirit throughout the event. Whether competing out on the course or cheering on their peers from the sidelines, students showcased the positive culture and strong sense of belonging that define our PBC community.
We also recently competed against students from across the Gold Coast for our Cluster Day sporting activities. The day was filled with energy, teamwork and school spirit, with students proudly representing their schools. Events such as these not only promote healthy competition and leadership, but also strengthen connections across our wider school community and provide memorable experiences for everyone involved.
There is still plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead. This week, our talented students and staff will present Rock of Ages: High School Edition at The Star Gold Coast. The production promises to be an incredible showcase of creativity, dedication and talent, and I congratulate everyone involved for the many hours of rehearsal and preparation that have gone into bringing the show to life. We are also especially proud to once again include students from our local primary schools in the production, further strengthening the strong community connections that make PBC unique.
Next week, we look forward to celebrating our Year 7 students at the Optima Assembly. Transitioning to high school is a significant milestone, and this assembly provides an opportunity to recognise students who have demonstrated commitment, positive behaviour, academic effort and engagement during their first months at PBC. We are incredibly proud of the way our newest students have embraced the opportunities and expectations of secondary school life.
Later this term, our Year 9 students will participate in Work Experience placements. This is an important opportunity for students to explore future career pathways, develop workplace skills and gain valuable insight into a range of industries and professions. We thank the many businesses and community organisations who continue to support our students by providing these meaningful experiences.
As always, I would like to thank our staff, students and families for their ongoing support and contribution to the vibrant culture of PBC. I look forward to celebrating many more successes with our community as the term continues.
