Year 3/4

In Mathematics this week, students are learning about data representation and how information can be collected, organised and displayed in different ways. They are exploring a range of data displays, including tables, pictographs, column graphs and other visual representations, and discussing which display is most suitable for different types of data.
Students are developing their ability to interpret data by asking and answering questions based on the information presented. They are learning that different data displays can help us identify patterns, compare results and draw conclusions. Through investigations and real-world examples, students are building their skills in collecting, representing and analysing data.
At home, you might encourage your child to look for graphs and charts in newspapers, magazines or online and discuss what information they communicate and what questions they help answer.
NSW Mathematics K–10 Syllabus – Stage 2 Outcome: MA2-DATA-01 – Collects, represents, interprets and evaluates data to answer questions and communicate information.
