GRADE 6 SUMMIT CAMP

Written By Finn.D, Austin.T And Lennon.K

On Wednesday the 20th of May, Year 6 students from LPPS went to the Summit Camp. At the Summit, all students were informed about the 5 keys: Have Fun, Play All In, Make Lots Of Mistakes, Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable and Don't Go Home Wondering “What If”.

These keys encouraged us to give everything a good go.

Over the three days, Year 6 students participated in 6 main activities which were Bag Blitz, Abseiling, Rock Climbing, a scavenger hunt, Laser Skirmish and Flying Fox. Everyone was so hyped for these activities! The flying fox was an awesome feature, flying across the long zipline through the air over the long lake. Bag Blitz was a 16 metre tower which you had to jump off to reach and hold on to the bag. The longest time for holding on to the bag from our school was 3 seconds which is much better than what you're probably thinking! At the rock wall, lots of students were determined to get to the top of the 18 metre tall tower. In the end, only two people made it to the top of the hardest wall which was a great achievement. Abseiling was the biggest tower yet, 20 metres into the air! Half of the students were scared to climb down this massive wall, but so many pushed through their fears and gave it their best shot. Laser tag was great, working as a team to try and beat your opponents, while the scavenger hunt required you to solve riddles and use a range of skills to gain the most points.

The Mud Run was on the second day of camp, everyone was so excited and ready to get as muddy as possible! At one stage during the Mud Run, we had ten seconds to get as muddy as possible and after that everyone was soaked in disgusting smelly mud. We were so lucky to get to run another lap of the mud course to try and work even better as a team to beat our previous times. Every team beat their times from their first lap, one team even completed it 10 minutes faster!

Overall, Year 6 Camp was an amazing three days. Our personal highlights at camp were ALL of the activities, trivia, movie night and of course the Mud Run - so pretty much everything! We made so many memories, working together to be brave and push through our fears.

Foundation Swimming Program

Our Foundation students recently attended their first school swimming session at Kingswim Langwarrin, and we couldn't be prouder of how well they did! For many students, this was their first experience participating in a swimming program with their classmates, and they approached the day with enthusiasm, courage, and big smiles.

Students listened carefully to instructions, participated beautifully in their lessons, and demonstrated excellent behaviour throughout the excursion.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to our Foundation families for your support and understanding of our Child Safe requirements. We greatly appreciated your assistance in the change rooms, which helped ensure students were ready for their lessons while maintaining a safe and positive environment for everyone.

Well done, Foundation students – we look forward to seeing your confidence and swimming skills continue to grow throughout the program!

Mejada Beatty - Murri Island Girl Whole School Incursion

Our whole school recently enjoyed an engaging incursion with Mejada Beatty – Murri Island Girl. Through storytelling, music, dance and cultural activities, students learned about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, traditions and experiences. Mejada shared her personal journey in a fun and interactive way, helping students develop a deeper understanding of First Nations perspectives while celebrating diversity, respect and inclusion.

Term 2 -2026

Through Auslan students have continued to show respect for the deaf community and have developed an understanding that everyone is different but special in their own way.

All students have learnt about Mother’s Day and Birthday celebrations, as well as Emotions/Feelings. Foundation students are leaning basic greetings (happy, sad, good, bad), whilst older students are learning more complex greetings (excited, angry, worried, scared and many more)

The Foundation students are doing an amazing job in Auslan. Every week they are using more sign language to communicate with each other. Through class activities students have revised their knowledge of basic instructional language, and numbers 0-10. The focus this term through stories, songs and games has been on learning numbers 11-20, colours and a “Family” unit.

Year 1 students have participated enthusiastically in learning numbers 10-100 and about food, especially fruit names signs and practicing conversational phrases.

Year 2 ‘s are engaging with anima and sport signs, school items and various occupations through memory game that matches Auslan signs to the relevant picture. They are also able to generate simple questions and answers related to these topics.

Year 3 & 4’s are practicing conversational phrases, learning to ask questions like “How are you?” and “What sport do you like?” Through games and activities, students are building their knowledge of more complex sighs related to animals, sports and school items.

Year 5 & 6’s  are advancing in Auslan as they prepare a presentation using Google Slides or PowerPoint, featuring information relating to Auslan, it origins, features where it’s used in the community.Top of FormBottom of Form
