Grounds Works
We are pleased to share an update on the next stages of our school grounds infrastructure works. These planned Phase 1 and 2 projects include the construction of a new storage shed, which will enable the asbestos removal and demolition of the old canteen, maintenance shed and existing storage shed.
These works have been made possible through the outstanding fundraising efforts of our school community and represent an important step towards the broader goal of resurfacing the basketball court and upgrading the shelter shed.
Once these works are completed in the coming months, we look forward to sharing detailed plans for Phase 3 of the project. We are also excited to provide the community with an update on our fundraising progress and how close we are to reaching the financial target required to bring the next phase of improvements to life.
CUST Training
Yesterday, staff participated in the first of two Cultural Understanding and Safety Training (CUST) sessions. The training provides opportunities for staff to deepen their understanding of culture, reflect on the impact of historical and contemporary experiences, and strengthen their capacity to create a culturally safe and inclusive environment for our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and families.
The second session, scheduled for next week, will build on these foundations and explore practical strategies for embedding cultural safety into everyday practice.
We extend our sincere thanks to Bell parent Justin Trounson for facilitating this learning and for so generously sharing his personal experiences and perspectives with staff.
A reminder that we are seeking community feedback to help inform the design of a special foyer artwork being created by Aboriginal artist Simone Thomson. We encourage all members of our school community to share their ideas and reflections via the Google survey by Friday 19 June to help create a meaningful artwork that reflects the diversity, connections, and aspirations of our community.
