Foundation: Mook Mook Owls

Gallery Image

Foundation students examined artworks by one of the most prominent painters of the Warmun community in WA, Queenie McKenzie (1915-1998). In 1987 McKenzie was the first woman to begin painting in her community. Students used her Mook Mook Owls with Young (1996) artwork as inspiration for their own owl artworks. The students experimented with various printmaking techniques including foam printing, paint splattering and mark making.
