Junior Robotics

The Year 2 Junior Robotics students have been busy building and coding during their recess club sessions! Using the LEGO Spike Essential kits, students began by carefully following instructions to create a range of exciting robots and models.
Once their builds were complete, students were encouraged to think like designers and engineers by improving and modifying their creations. They explored different ways to change the design and adjust the code to make their robots and their sensors work in new and creative ways.
It has been fantastic to see students showing persistence, creativity and problem-solving skills as they tested ideas and worked through challenges. The robotics club has been full of collaboration, excitement and lots of enthusiastic learning each week!
Below, some of the students share what they are making at the moment:
Last week I made the Antarctic ride because it looks cool and I was able to make it drive.
- Reyansh 2SL
We made the Antarctic ride and the cave car. We coded the cave car to show lots of different light colours.
- Shreyas and Owen 2A
We made the boat ride, we made a motor spin round which pushed the boat and made it move.
- Ved 2H
I was making the boat ride and we made it move. We changed the rotation of the motor to make it spin the other way.
- Hailey 2H
I made the snow ride, it isn’t finished yet but I am excited to code it to make it move so it can scoop up pieces.
- Claire 2H
We are making the boat ride. We haven’t finished it yet but we are excited to code it to make sounds and move.
- Aveline 2H
We made the snow ride, we coded the motor to spin for longer. It made the boat move forward. We also changed the way the motor rotated.
- Finn and Lexie 2H
