I am a Tourist!
Students across the school are currently in the drafting stage of their ‘I am a Tourist’ artwork. The aim is for the final piece to be recognisable as to what location/s it is representing. Students in senior school have explored different composition options such as the ‘L-arrangement’, ‘converging lines’, ‘framing’ and ‘circular arrangement’. Students in junior year levels have engaged in learning more about First Nations Peoples artwork, identifying the wide range of artwork that falls within this category as well as some common symbols used in their story telling artwork. Students experienced artwork produced by well known Australian artists, Albert Namajira, Brett Whiteley, Sidney Nolan and Emily Kame Kakngwarreye, recognising that a landscape can be visually represented in a multitude of ways.
Meanwhile, the Visual Arts captains Patrick and Rachel, interviewed students across the school to find out what style of art they produce in their own time and a skill they want to improve on.
Xinwei 6L- I love to draw in a cartoon style influenced by Roblox and want to further improve these skills.
Ishya 5A- I enjoy drawing locations around the world and would like to improve my ability to make the places look realistic.
Judy 4J- I really enjoy craft! I’m currently working on a piece of artwork with a sunset and ocean. I want to work on my ability to blend colours.
