Principal's Report

Dear BEPS Community,
Last week we celebrated annual ES Appreciation Day, where we acknowledged the important work of all our education support staff. Without our amazing ES staff we would be lost! From the front office where the cogs turn endlessly to our integration staff supporting individual and small groups of students to achieve success every day, we say thank you. We are so grateful for all you do across the school supporting students and staff to make BEPS the best school it can be. We hope all our ES champions felt the culture of BEPS and know how valuable they are to us every day.
On Friday we proudly celebrated Education Week at BEPS with a wonderful whole-school celebration assembly showcasing the many opportunities and experiences available to our students. It was fantastic to see so many parents and family members in attendance supporting and celebrating student learning.
Throughout the assembly, students presented videos highlighting our classroom learning approaches and the many ways students engage in connected and challenging learning experiences each day. Our choirs, ukulele group, and band also performed, demonstrating the benefits of a broad and balanced curriculum that extends well beyond the traditional classroom setting. These opportunities help students build confidence, creativity, teamwork, and a strong sense of connection to school.
A recent highlight at our Monday morning assembly was the presentation from our SUP Leaders, who shared some excellent examples of strategies students can use to reduce the impact of “Friendship Fires” and behaviour that is “Mean on Purpose.” The leaders spoke confidently about the language and strategies being used across the school to support positive relationships, emotional regulation, and respectful interactions. They continue to do a wonderful job promoting these important messages and helping strengthen our positive learning environment and student friendships.
A reminder to families that we have a Curriculum Day scheduled for Friday 5th of June. Students will not be required at school on this day. TeamKids will be operating their day program for families requiring care.
We also remind families that the King’s Birthday Public Holiday will be observed on Monday 8th of June.
Exciting New Addition to Play at BEPS
Our GaGa Pit!
We are excited to announce that our brand-new GaGa Pit has officially been installed and is already proving to be a fantastic addition to play opportunities across the school.
GaGa is a fast-paced, inclusive and highly engaging game that encourages students to be active, work together, build coordination skills and most importantly — have fun. The pit provides another positive option for students during recess and lunchtime while supporting teamwork, social interaction and active play.
This exciting addition reflects our ongoing commitment to creating engaging play spaces where students can connect, participate and enjoy a wide range of activities beyond the classroom.
We look forward to seeing students enjoy the GaGa Pit throughout the year.
SCHOOL and GATE OPENING and CLOSING TIMES
School opens at 8.45am
Gates close at 9.05am
Gates re-open at 3.15pm
Student pick up 3.30pm-3.45pm
School gates are locked during the day for the safety of our students. There is no access to the school other than via the front entrance.
We ask all parents and carers dropping children in the morning, to ensure they are in class by 9.00am in time for the morning roll. Being on time for school is so important for ensuring students start their day with their peers and are ready to learn.
Industrial Action Impact to School Reports
As a part of the AEU industrial action, a ‘ban on all aspects of work related to the provision of written comments on student reports that will be provided to parents’ was implemented for its members. Reports will continue to indicate student achievement against the relevant curriculum areas of the Victorian Curriculum F–10 but full written comments will not be provided. The department of education have acknowledged that even with a lift on this ban, there would not be time for the provision of written comments for this semester.
You will receive a report for your child in the last week of term as usual, which will contain progression points showing learning attainment and growth. If you have concerns or wish to discuss your child's progress in more detail, as always, you can contact your child's teacher to arrange a meeting.
Yours in Partnership,
Darren
