The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
This Sunday our Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, which is also known as the Feast of Corpus Christi. This day reminds us of the centrality of the Eucharist to our Catholic faith, and the importance of regularly receiving the sacrament for our spiritual nourishment and growth.
Gospel Reading: Jn 6:51-58 Sunday 7th June
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John
Jesus said to the Jews:
‘I am the living bread which has come down from heaven.
Anyone who eats this bread will live for ever;
and the bread that I shall give
is my flesh, for the life of the world.’
Then the Jews started arguing with one another: ‘How can this man give us his flesh to eat?’ they said. Jesus replied:
‘I tell you most solemnly,
if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man
and drink his blood,
you will not have life in you.
Anyone who does eat my flesh and drink my blood
has eternal life,
and I shall raise him up on the last day.
For my flesh is real food
and my blood is real drink.
He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood
lives in me
and I live in him.
As I, who am sent by the living Father,
myself draw life from the Father,
so whoever eats me will draw life from me.
This is the bread come down from heaven;
not like the bread our ancestors ate:
they are dead,
but anyone who eats this bread will live for ever.’
The Gospel of the Lord
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You are the living bread which sustains us in this life.
May we always hunger for the bread which comes from heaven
and find in it the nourishment and strength we need
to love and serve you always.
Amen

Religious Education - VOCATIONS
VOCATIONS Guest Speaker - Mr Michael Nolan
On Thursday the 28th of May, we had a special guest come into LA8 to talk to Year 5 & 6. His name is Michael Nolan, he is 86 years old and used to be a priest for 33 years. Interestingly, he has just recently won an OAM (Medal of the Order of Australia) award. He had been telling us about his vocation as a priest and a bit of his life story. Vocation means an occupation, business or profession, especially one which you seriously believe in. It’s a calling, career, a divine call to God's service. E.G a Priest.
Here are a few questions we asked him.
What makes you want to help people?
He loves people and loves to help them. He also loves meeting and engaging with new people that he meets.
What does your vocation to God look like?
‘It’s nothing you can see, it’s what you see in your imagination’, Michael said.
