FIRST EUCHARIST
Last Saturday night the students who are preparing to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time, made a commitment before their families, the parish community and God. First, they were asked by Fr Joseph if this is a gift they want to receive. Then they were asked if through prayer and learning, they would fully commit to preparing to receive this sacrament. Finally Fr Joseph called upon God to bring these young students the grace to do just what they had promised.
As a Catholic community, we recognise that this journey of faith is not one our students undertake alone. The preparation for First Holy Communion is strengthened through the love, guidance and example of parents, families, teachers and the wider parish community. Children learn what it means to live as followers of Jesus through the people who pray with them, attend Mass alongside them and encourage them in their faith each day.
The large parent turn out at Tuesday's Family Faith Sharing afternoon showed just how supportive our families can be and it was lovely to welcome not just parents but grandparents, younger siblings and uncles as well! Whilst students shared some of their learning with their families, they also spent time reflecting together on the meaning of the Eucharist and the special invitation Jesus gives us to gather at His table.
We thank our families for the commitment they are making to support their children during this special time and acknowledge the parish community for walking beside them with prayer and encouragement. May these students continue to grow in their relationship with Jesus as they prepare to receive Him in the Eucharist for the very first time.
WINTER APPEAL
It's not even Winter and yet the Saint Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal is off to a flying start. Donations have already started coming in and the Social Justice leaders in each classroom are doing a great job of encouraging each other to give generously. The table below will assist families in knowing which items particular classrooms are collecting.
