2026 STUDENT ENROLMENTS

Last night we had an information session for the 2026 prep parents. The session included information about the school’s transition program, our wellbeing and educational programs and how to prepare students for their commencement in February next year.

On Tuesday 11 November, we will welcome our 2026 prep students and their families to their very first transition session. The new preps will be attending transition every Tuesday (9:30am – 12:30pm) culminating on Tuesday 9 December.

Theircare have organised a coffee van for Tuesday 11 November for all our parents and will use this opportunity to promote the before and after school care program.

CHANGE IN PREP CLASSROOMS

After much consideration, we are relocating the prep classrooms to the portables. From 2026, the portables will become our junior school hub for the prep and year one students. The year two students will move to the main building.

Over the school holidays, the portables will undergo a much-needed refurbishment with new pinboards being installed, new carpet and all rooms painted.  New furniture has also been ordered for prep classrooms.

PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE DAY (PPD) Friday 21 November

Under the current Enterprise Bargain Agreement, teachers are entitled to one professional practice day per year. This is in addition to the four pupil-free Curriculum Days.

School Council has approved Friday 21 November for the teachers’ professional practice day. Theircare will be operating their service to provide a fun and engaging program for students needing care and supervision on that day.

NEW SUPPORT ROLES IN 2026

We’re excited to share that our school will be part of the Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) initiative from 2026. This important program aims to strengthen how schools support students’ mental health and wellbeing through early intervention, staff training, and connection with community services. Following our recent recruitment process, we are delighted to announce Ms Emily Kurts as our new Mental Health and Wellbeing Leader. Ms Kurts will work closely with staff, students, and families to enhance our whole-school approach to wellbeing and ensure every child feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

We are also pleased to announce Ms Chelsea Quirk as our new Learning Specialist for Inclusion. In this role, Ms Quirk will collaborate closely with teachers and parents to ensure students with disabilities receive the support and adjustments they need to thrive and reach their full learning potential. During Semester One, Ms Quirk will be working three days per week before transitioning to a full-time role. Ms Quirk will share an office with our new MHiPS Leader (Ms Kurts) in the Junior Primary Hub (portables) creating a dedicated space focused on inclusion and wellbeing.

PROTECTION AGAINST MOSQUITO-BORNE DISEASES

Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen the weather fluctuate between very warm, very cold and often wet. As summer approaches, warm and wet weather can result in greater numbers of mosquitoes and an increased risk of illness from mosquito bites. While the overall risk is currently low, some mosquitoes may be carrying diseases that make people sick.

The best protection against mosquito-borne illness is to avoid mosquito bites.

Families can protect against mosquito bites by:

  • covering up as much as possible with long, loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing
  • applying insect repellent that contains picaridin or DEET on exposed skin when outdoors
  • limiting outdoor activity if lots of mosquitoes are active
  • clean up and remove containers and items around the home that may hold water where mosquitoes may breed.

Families with any health concerns should see their doctor or phone NURSE-ON-CALL: 1300 606 024 (available 24 hours).

PARKING AND THE STAFF CAR PARK

There are two kiss and go areas for parents to drop off and pick up their children quickly, Weeroona Road and Hobart Road. Please be careful to observe the street signage and refrain from parking in the kiss and go areas.

For safety reasons, the staff car park is out of bounds to parents and students between 7:30am and 5:30pm. This also means families should avoid walking through the car park area to get to the classrooms and playgrounds.

CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES

Please remember to let the office know if any of your contact details have changed. It is important that the office has current phone numbers and home addresses and the person you have listed as an emergency contact (in the event we can’t get hold of you) is also up to date.

Please also let the office know if your child is moving schools next year as early notice assists with class placements.
