LIBRARY NEWS

Booked In for New Adventures!

Thanks to the wonderful support of our school community at the Spring Carnival and through Scholastic Book Club, Carnegie Primary has earned Rewards to help keep our library stocked and updated with fantastic new reads!

We have over $800 worth of new books arriving, including exciting new titles by much-loved Australian authors such as Ahn Do, Aaron Blabey, Morris Gleitzman, and Adam Goodes. Thank you for your continued support of Book Club—it’s a great way to encourage a love of reading both at home and at school.

After-School Borrowing

In Term 4, the library is open for after-school borrowing and returns from Monday to Thursday, 3:30pm – 3:45pm. Students from all year levels are welcome to come in on any of these days. Please note: the library is closed after school on Fridays.

REINFORCED READING VOLUNTEERS-MAKING A REAL DIFFERENCE

Our Reinforced Reading Program continues to go from strength to strength this term, thanks to the wonderful efforts of our dedicated volunteers. Each week, our caring parents, grandparents, and community members share their time reading with students.

It has been wonderful to watch our students grow in fluency, confidence, and their engagement in reading through this program. The encouraging feedback we’ve received from both teachers and parents reflects the clear positive impact seen across classrooms and at home.

We are always keen to welcome new volunteers! Even 30 minutes a week can make a big difference. All training is provided through short online videos, and sessions take place within the line of sight of a teacher.

If you’d like to find out more, please contact me at 📧 janette.taylor@education.vic.gov.au or visit the office to express your interest.

A huge thank you to everyone who has completed the training and joined our program. Our students are thriving because of you!
