Prep Update

Our Learning - Weeks 7 & 8
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL):
*To learn what is meant by the words ‘permission’ and ‘consent’.
*To practise ways to seek, give and deny permission respectfully when sharing possessions or personal space.
*To practise self-calming and self-control strategies.
English:
*Revise Heart words and speed sounds with the use of our Chitter Chatter Chant cards.
*To recognise the long /i/ phoneme is represented by the grapheme ‘ie’ and identify words that have a long /i/ sound in them and are represented by the grapheme ‘ie’.
*To recognise the long /o/ phoneme is represented by the grapheme ‘oa’ and identify words that have a long /o/ sound in them and are represented by the graphemes ‘oa’.
*To write about a picture prompt.
*Continue to explore the characters’ speech in narratives and create our own comics using speech bubbles.
Maths:
*To practise forming digits correctly, review prior learning and revise concepts with our Maths Daily Review.
*To recognise coins by their name and appearance and understand the value of each coin in terms of what it can buy.
*To recognise and use the appropriate coins to make purchases from the shops of others.
*To practise skip counting by 10s using coins.
*To skip count from 2s, 5s, or 10s using dice to determine how many coins.
Inquiry:
*To design and label a toy that students can make.
*To use their design to build their toys.
Friendly Reminders:
-Please send school summer hats with your child- Hillsmeade school hatsare required to be worn every day at school during recess and lunch play (during all of Term 4). Students that do not have their school hat will be required to play under the shade sails area.
-Prep Transition #3 (2026 Preps) - Tuesday 25th November. Current Preps will be in a different classroom for the first hour of the day and then will return to their classroom when transition has ended.
-Wednesday 26th November - Curriculum Day, students are not required to attend school.
-Monday, 8th December - End of Year Extravaganza!
