Our Incredible LEPS Community!

We have had a sensational two weeks with our Annual House Sports Day (Thursday 30 October) and our very successful Mini Fete (Friday 7 November) providing incredible opportunities for our LEPS Family to come together and create memorable moments for our students.

We are thrilled with the number of family members who were able to join us for all or part of the day for the House Sports. We love how family members are getting into the spirit and dressing in their children's house colour, participating in the activities including the warm up dances (shout out to Amar for her cool dance moves!) and cheering all the competitors in the races and tug of war.

Many thanks to Dean Sharples, the students and staff who assisted on the day. It is definitely a highlight of our school year. Well done to Blue house on securing a 'three-peat" with three years of victory in a row! I wonder who will win next year? Congratulations to the parents for their win in the tug of war agaist the staff. That makes it one all! Bring on 2026's battle!!

And if that wasn't enough fun, we backed up with the Mini Fete!

A HUGE shout out to the students and staff for the incredible stalls which included scrunchies, guess the number of lollies in the jar, lucky dip, spiders, home made lemonade, hand made book marks, popcorn, hand made key chain beads, books, Trash and Treasure (although some early purchases at the stall did comment that there was 'No trash, only treasure!' LOL!)

Thank you to everyone for their donations for the stalls, assistance on the day, for sending money with your children or spending your money when you were with us and for joining us on the day. It was so wonderful to look out over the court yard and see so many happy smiling faces. Just another reason why LEPS is such a magical place to work!

Congratulations to Filipa who won the doll house and to Zena, Charlotte, Bonnie and Christian for winning the lollie jar guessing competition.

We are thrilled to announce we raised $2391.90!! This is the highest amount we've ever raised at a Mini Fete!! Thank you everyone for making this possible.

Behaviour Expectations

There has been a lot written in the media about rising levels of violence and antisocial behaviour in our community and it is something which does impact our school community as well.

As a school we have a responsibility to provide a safe learning and working environment for our students, staff and families. While we are aware that some students have challanges which can affect the way they behave, there are behaviours which are not acceptable. These behaviours include being violent towards other students and staff, disrupting the learning by not following staff instructions and making choices which put themselves and others at risk of harm/injury.

While we do our best to manage these situations to ensure a positive outcome for the individual who is dysregulated and support them to make better choices, we need to consider the impact this behaviour has on the other students and staff. This may include contacting you to ask you to collect your child or informing you that your child has been suspended for a period of time. On other occasions students will miss out of the 'fun' activities at school including Wellbeing Clubs, Interschool Sport or excursions or need to complete yard duty or after school detention.

It is important for parents and staff to work in partnership to support the child to understand that aggressive behaviours cannot be tolerated at school, home or the wider community. Continued aggressive behaviours can result in some very unpleasant consequences in the future where people find themselves, out of work, having nowhere to live or potentially ending up in jail.

We need you to support us when consequences are given to your child and not make excuses for your child's behaviour. We need you to support your child to make better choices by talking to them about their behaviour and imposing consequences at home. We need you to take our advice when we recommend you seek support from medical professionals. You are your child's first educator and they will look to you to see if you approve or disapprove of their behaviour.

We only have the children for approximately 35 hours a week out of 168 hours and our focus is on ensuring they can get the best education they can while with us. BUT if staff and parents work together as a team, those educational outcomes can be greatly increased as less time is spent dealing with antisocial behaviours and more time is spent on learning.

Future Australian Cricketer - Pearl

Congratulations to Pearl from grade 6 who recently competed at the School Sports Victoria competion held in Ballarat as a member of Team Victoria Cricket Team.

Pearl has a great passion for cricket and this is her second year of representing Victoria. AND this year her team secured third place!! An incredible effort against some very strong competition.

Pearl's individual success of scoring 229 runs for the tournament (1 run behind the highest number of runs scored for the tournament) which included a high score of 96 runs in her first match, contributed greatly to Victoria's success.

We are all so proud of you Pearl and personally, I can't wait to see you playing for Australia, winning the World Cup and beating England in the Ashes. You know the LEPS family will be cheering you on from the stands as you become Australia's next Meg Lanning!
