On Tuesday 11 November, as part of our Inquiry unit on Mini Beasts, the Grade 2 students visited the Melbourne Museum.
It was an exciting day with plenty to see! Students explored several galleries, with a particular focus on the Bugs Alive! exhibition. This gallery was filled with fascinating insects, and students enjoyed discovering their unique features and natural environments. Another favourite was the Our Wondrous Planet exhibition, which showcased animals from across the globe.
Many students were especially looking forward to theBugs 3Dfilm at IMAX, and it did not disappoint. They thoroughly enjoyed the immersive 3D experience and learned a great deal about how bugs adapt and survive in different habitats.

Later this term we will be hosting a Grade 2 Mini Beasts Expo, a wonderful celebration of the students’ learning throughout our Inquiry unit. Families are warmly invited to attend and view the students’ projects.
As part of the expo, students will create a model of their chosen mini beast. They are welcome to bring in materials from home to support their project work.
Over the past three weeks, Grade 2 students have been participating in the Footsteps dance program. They have enjoyed learning a range of creative, upbeat dance routines, and it has been fantastic to see students enthusiastically trying new skills and performing with confidence.

On Monday, 17th November, students are invited to wear free dress, with one requirement- their top (t-shirt, jumper, or windcheater) must be a clearly identifiable single colour- something you can easily name as “red”, “blue”, “green”, etc. We will be using this as part of a data investigation to explore how many students chose each colour. All other clothing items may be free dress.

FOOD FOR FAMILIES FUNDRAISER

We’re excited to announce that our school will be supporting the Food for Families fundraiser this year!
From Monday 17th November until Wednesday 3rd December, we’ll be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to families in need during the Christmas season.
There will be three collection points around the school — at the Office, Library, and Learning Centre. On the night of our Christmas Market and Carols, families are also welcome to bring donations to the collection point at the event.
This initiative is proudly put together by our Student Council Representatives, who will be helping collect and repack donations ready to send to families who need a little extra support this Christmas. Even a single item can make a big difference to someone’s holiday season!
Unfortunately, we will be unable to accept:
Thank you for helping us spread kindness and generosity throughout our community this Christmas!
