As part of Numeracy Week, we will be celebrating Coloured T-Shirt Day on Monday 17th November. Students are invited to wear a single-coloured t-shirt to school so that we can collect data as a whole school and explore how many different colours are represented. Please ensure your child’s t-shirt is one solid colour, or as close to a single colour as possible, to help us gather accurate information for our data activities. We’re looking forward to a bright and colourful start to Numeracy Week!

Our Year One students have been busy learning all about clouds and how they form. As part of our science unit, each class took part in a colourful and engaging experiment using shaving cream and food colouring to model how rain falls from clouds.

Please note that teachers are often unable to check or respond to emails during the school day due to teaching and other commitments. If you have an urgent message that needs to be passed on to your child’s teacher, please contact the school office, and they will ensure the message is delivered promptly. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Over the past few weeks, our Year One teachers have been facilitating lessons with a strong focus on child safety.
As part of this learning, students explored online safety, discussing the importance of never sharing private information—such as their full name, address, passwords, or school details—when using digital devices. Through stories and guided activities, students learned simple strategies for staying safe online and recognising when something doesn’t feel right.
In addition, students have been learning about body safety. They were introduced to “NO, GO, TELL”, a clear set of steps they can follow if they ever feel unsafe:
TELL: Speak to a trusted adult.
When exploring the TELL step, students identified a range of trusted adults whom they can seek support from.
We encourage families to continue these conversations at home. Supporting children in recognising unsafe situations and seeking help builds their confidence and resilience.
Below is an additional resource that may support families:

As we approach the end of the school year, we kindly ask parents to notify us via email if their child will be absent due to upcoming holidays or if they will be finishing the year early. Having this information directly from parents helps us plan effectively and ensure all end-of-year requirements are completed smoothly. Please send through your child’s final dates as soon as possible. We appreciate your support in keeping communication clear and consistent.
The last week for borrowing is Week 8 (week ending Friday 28 November 2025)
All books that have been borrowed must be returned by the end of Week 9 (Friday 5th December), this includes student home readers.
The Year Ones are excited to be performing Santa Bring Me a Dinosaur by Bob Brown at the VPS Christmas Market and Carols on Tuesday, 3rd December. Students have been working hard during school rehearsals, and we kindly ask families to support this by practising the song at home as well. A little extra practice will help students feel confident and ready for the big night. We’re looking forward to sharing this fun and festive performance with our school community! FOOD FOR FAMILIES FUNDRAISER

We’re excited to announce that our school will be supporting the Food for Families fundraiser this year!
From Monday 17th November until Wednesday 3rd December, we’ll be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to families in need during the Christmas season.
There will be three collection points around the school — at the Office, Library, and Learning Centre. On the night of our Christmas Market and Carols, families are also welcome to bring donations to the collection point at the event.
This initiative is proudly put together by our Student Council Representatives, who will be helping collect and repack donations ready to send to families who need a little extra support this Christmas. Even a single item can make a big difference to someone’s holiday season!
Unfortunately, we will be unable to accept:
Thank you for helping us spread kindness and generosity throughout our community this Christmas!
