Hello Vermont families and welcome to the Numeracy section of the Nurlendi News! Here is where we will share any exciting resources, games or ideas that you may find interesting and enjoy using at home with your children.

Numeracy Week

Next week is Numeracy Week!

We have some fun activities planned for the week. These include:

COLOUR SHIRT DAY (Monday)

On Monday, November 17, students are allowed to wear a coloured shirt (T-shirt, jacket, hoodie, jumper etc) to school. It can be any colour you like. The whole school will be collecting data about the shirt colour, making a whole school graph and analysing the data in their class.

Please remember that the students do not have to wear school uniform on Monday. We look forward to a very colourful day!

BALL OF STRING COMPETITION

How many metres long is this ball of string? Students will have a guess, justify their reason and the closest in each year level will win a prize!

WORLD OF MATHS INCURSION

Students will attend the World of Maths Incursion in the stadium. Students will be participating in a range of hands-on problem solving activities suitable for their level. The timetable for the incursion is:

9.00-10.10 - 1NL, 1CQ, 2JH

10.10-11.50 - 1MF, 1NF, 2KL (break for recess)

12.00-1.10 - 3MG, 3LS

2.10-3.20 - 3HT, 3BM

Friday, November 21

9.00-10.10 - 2BM, 2CC

10.10-11.50 - 5KY, 5CB, half of 5SD (break for recess)

12.00-1.10 - 4VN, 4AS

Monday, November 24

9.00-10.10 - 5KM, 5DW, half of 5SD

10.10-11.50 - 6GP, 6GS, half of 6PA (break for recess)

Year 6 Maths Game - Rowco

6GS recently played a strategy game called Rowco. It involves reasoning and fluency in the Maths topics of addition and subtraction of integers. Here is a link to explain the rules
