In The Classroom

Literacy

We have looked at identifying facts and opinions in the texts that we read. Forming our own opinion of a text and using facts to justify our point of views are also important skills that assist us in understanding the books we read.

Writing

Our writing pieces are coming together great! We have focused on creating a strong and engaging beginning, followed by the use of transition words in subsequent paragraphs to link it all together and finally, finishing with a complete ending to ensure that the reader is has a sense of resolution! See some of our writing samples below!

Maths

This week we have been revising multiplication and division strategies, particularly the reverse area model. We applied our problem solving skills to determine the important information in worded problems and solved it using the reverse area model and checked our answers with other known strategies.

We also completed our little unit on perimeter by measuring the outside of our school! Can you guess the perimeter of our school?

FOOD FOR FAMILIES FUNDRAISER

We’re excited to announce that our school will be supporting the Food for Families fundraiser this year!

From Monday 17th November until Wednesday 3rd December, we’ll be collecting non-perishable food items to donate to families in need during the Christmas season.

There will be three collection points around the school — at the Office, Library, and Learning Centre. On the night of our Christmas Market and Carols, families are also welcome to bring donations to the collection point at the event.

This initiative is proudly put together by our Student Council Representatives, who will be helping collect and repack donations ready to send to families who need a little extra support this Christmas. Even a single item can make a big difference to someone’s holiday season!

Unfortunately, we will be unable to accept:

  • Perishable items (e.g., fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy).
  • Expired or opened products.
  • Alcohol or energy drinks.
  • Homemade meals.
  • Damaged or unsealed packaging.

Thank you for helping us spread kindness and generosity throughout our community this Christmas!
