Year 3/4 Learning Reflection

Students have been further developing their skills in morphology. Delving into the structure of words, how they are formed, and their relationship to other words. This week they looked at the 'ism suffix and applying it to the end of a word.
During paired fluency, students integrated their learning with Unit of Work. As our focus has been on the geographical and historical history of Sunshine, students read about reasons why places change. Some of these being; new buildings to facilitate the needs of the community, housing to accomodate population growth, and transport.
Year 4 students reading a passage from their class serial read, The Wild Robot.
Year 3 students have been further developing their writing skills by learning about run-on sentences. This is when two or more complete sentences that are incorrectly joined together without proper punctuation or conjunctions.
Here, students are working on Probability in Maths. They have learnt about the probability continuum and plotted appropriate events to align with these five different categories; impossible, unlikely, equally likely, likely and certain. Today we used a coin to conduct chance experiment with two possible outcomes and recorded the results.
Have you seen our new design library? We are loving the new additions to this wonderful space.
Don't forget, the school will be closed Monday 3rd November for a Curriculum Day and Tuesday 4th of November is a public holiday.
We will see the students again on Wednesday 5th November.
It is important to note, as part of our school OHS policy, students are required to wear a SunSmart hat in terms 1 and 4. School bucket hats are available at our office for purchase or alternatively any bucket or legionnaires hat is acceptable. The school has a strict, 'No hat, no play' policy.
