Prep Learning Reflection

This fortnight in Reading and Writing, we have been focusing on the text 'Farmer John's Tractor'. We've explored some vocabulary words like 'smooth', 'clamber' and 'wail', and have been learning how to include words in our sentences that describe 'where' something is.
For our Phonics lessons, we've continued learning common sounds that are represented by 2 letters and have been focusing on 'th' and 'ck'.
In Numeracy we have been learning about subtraction, mass and have introduced sorting objects to create data displays. We're also doing daily addition fluency practice! We've been saying and writing double digit numbers and have been particularly looking at 'ty' numbers such as 20, 30 etc.
In Unit of Work, we've begun experimenting with the design process. We've been researching, building and testing prototypes for a paper airplane.
In SEL, we've been doing activities from the RRRR (Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships) topic 'Problem Solving' and have also been working on 'Learning, Motivation and Growth Mindset' with the Open Parachute program.
We also celebrated Children's week last week! The students had a great day with their teddies in class, teaching and showing them all of the amazing things that they've learnt this year. We also had a big picnic with the Grade 1s and 2s and got our faces painted.
