St Mary’s Junior Boys Rugby League Match Review

On Wednesday in Week 5, the St Mary’s Junior Boys’ Rugby League Team faced off against Bentley Park College in a tough showdown that drew an enthusiastic crowd to the sidelines. The boys delivered a spirited performance that had fans on their feet from the opening whistle.

Blaze Murphy ignited the match with a spectacular try just two minutes into the game, setting the tone for a fierce contest. Bailey Thomas and Harry Green were unstoppable forces—Thomas showcasing his trademark grit, while Green bulldozed through the defence with powerful runs up the middle.

 

The energy is building, and we want YOU there for the next clash! Mark your calendars and head down to the SMCC Oval—kick-off is at 4:00 pm sharp. Let’s pack the stands and rally behind our boys!

St Mary’s Charges into the JSS Grand Finals!

In Week 5, St Mary’s delivered a powerhouse performance in the JSS Competition Semi-Finals, storming through with a series of thrilling victories. The energy, teamwork, and determination on display were nothing short of inspiring.

 

We’re proud to announce that six of our teams have earned their place in the Grand Finals—a phenomenal achievement that reflects the hard work and spirit of our athletes and coaches.

 

Congratulations to every player who competed with heart and pride. Your efforts have made the entire St Mary’s community proud. Now, all eyes are on next week as we rally behind our finalists!

St Mary’s Parkrun Takeover 2025

Get ready for our annual College Parkrun Takeover — a much-loved event where the St Mary’s community “takes over” the volunteer roster at Cairns Parkrun, while also participating in this free 5km community event! 

 

If you would like to volunteer for various marshalling, scanning, and checkpoint roles, please email Clare Robertson or Andrea O'Grady.

 

Date: Saturday, 15 November (Week 6)

Location: Northern end of the Esplanade, opposite Guyala Café

Time: Meet at 6:45 am for a 7:00 am start

Dress: Please wear your school sports uniform 

 

Parkrun is a free, international community event held every Saturday morning that encourages active living and positive social connection. As we approach the end of a busy year, this is an excellent opportunity to come together, stay active, and support our physical and mental well-being.

 

If you’d like to join in, you’re encouraged to sign up for a free Parkrun barcode, which can be scanned after each run to record your results and track your progress as part of the Parkrun community.

Term 4 Sports Program Highlights

This term, we’re mixing things up with a fresh lineup of sports activities to keep everyone moving and motivated. Please take a moment to review the weekly schedule so you know what’s on and can come prepared—especially for swimming sessions!

 

Off-Site Activities

  • Some sports will take place off-campus, with transportation provided via bus.
  • Swimming sessions will be held at Woree Pool, and students will walk to the venue.

     

What to Bring

To make the most of your sports sessions, don’t forget:

  • A hat 
  • Sunscreen 
  • A water bottle 
  • Appropriate swimwear for aquatic activities 

     

Let’s make Term 4 an active, exciting, and team-spirited term!

Location: Brinsmead Fields (next to Freshwater Christian College)

Trial Times: 4:50 pm – 6:30 pm
