YEAR 8
Building Strong Connections

Head of Year 8
The electronic permission slip for our End-of-Year Community Day has been emailed to families. This event will take place on Tuesday, November 25 (Week 8) and is a compulsory part of the Year 8 program at St Mary’s Catholic College. Students will enjoy a celebration lesson before heading to Sugarworld Adventure Park for a day of fun and reflection on their achievements. Please ensure the permission slip is completed promptly so your child can participate in this important event.
The Vinnies Christmas Hampers Project is underway again this year, and we are inviting all Year 8 students to contribute. Each basket of non-perishable items will earn House Points for your house, helping in the overall tally. In addition, there is a special Year 8 competition: the Pastoral Group that contributes the most items will receive a prize. Thank you for supporting this initiative and helping families in need during the festive season.

Please check your email this week; it contains essential information on the 2026 Fee and Levy Schedule and other updates for 2026.

RACQ is developing a new education program specifically for adults to equip them with practical, tangible strategies to support young novice drivers – whether they’re learners, provisional licence holders, or even passengers.
To make sure this program is genuinely useful, RACQ’s Education Team would love to hear from you.
If you’ve ever mentored, or are currently supervising a young driver, or spent time in the passenger seat offering guidance (or silently pressing your foot on your imaginary brake), we would encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the short survey and share what you wish you’d known.
Your insights will help build a resource that truly supports supervisors and mentors, and ultimately, safer roads for everyone. At the end of the survey, there is also an option to enter the prize draw for the chance to win one of five $100 eGift-cards.
