YEAR 7 KEY INFORMATION: WEEK 6
Year 7 Student Success: 3 x 3 Basketball
Congratulations to our Year 7 Students, Baden Georgi, Fraser Dalmeyer, Liam Jeffery, and Daniel Cachia, who represented the College in 3x3 Basketball. The boys had a successful day, with a proud win over Saints in the round robin and a 2nd-place finish. Thank you to Mrs Tillett for coaching the team throughout the day.
Opti-MINDS
The Year 7 Opti-MINDS Team recently participated in the State Finals held in Brisbane. Opti-MINDS requires students to respond to 'Creative Sustainability Challenges spontaneously'. The Year 7 St Mary's team of Bethany Williams, Chloe Volpe, Yujin Lee, Lyla Jones, Mia Peppler, and Zoe Chenoweth, were awarded the 'Peer Adjudicated' prize for their idea of a 'Pulse-Rate Necklace'. Congratulations to all involved!
Save the Date: Year 7 Community Day
The Year 7s will end the school year with a Community Day at Holloways Beach on Friday, 28 November. Following our End of Year Liturgy, students will spend their last day of Year 7 together, celebrating their successes with a fantastic day of swimming, activities, and lunch at the beach. They will be accompanied by their Pastoral Group Mentor and the Year 11 Student Mentors. Permission slips will be sent via EdSmart in the coming week.
Library Usage - Thursday Afternoons
The College Library is open to students on Thursdays from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.
During this time, students are expected to adhere to the following behaviour expectations:
- Students must engage in quiet study or reading activities.
- Mobile phones are not to be used in the Library.
Students must remain in the Library area until their pick-up time.
Recently, Year 7 students using the Library at this time have been loudly socialising, have required several reminders about correct phone use, and have generally been disruptive in the study environment. Should your child need to use the Library after school, particularly on a Thursday, please ensure they are clear about the expectations above. Students who are unable to behave appropriately in this space will be subject to regular College Behaviour Policy consequences.

RACQ New Education Program
RACQ is developing a new education program specifically for adults to equip them with practical, tangible strategies to support young novice drivers – whether they’re learners, provisional licence holders, or even passengers.
To make sure this program is genuinely helpful, RACQ’s Education Team would love to hear from you.
If you’ve ever mentored, or are currently supervising a young driver, or spent time in the passenger seat offering guidance (or silently pressing your foot on your imaginary brake), we would encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the short survey and share what you wish you’d known.
Your insights will help build a resource that truly supports supervisors and mentors, and ultimately, safer roads for everyone. At the end of the survey, there is also an option to enter the prize draw for the chance to win one of five $100 eGift-cards.
