Mobile Phone and Headphone Use

Personal Headphone and Earphone Use at Mordialloc College

At Mordialloc College, we are committed to maintaining a focused and respectful learning environment where communication and engagement are prioritised. To support this, we ask all families to remind their children of the school’s expectations regarding headphone and earphone use.

  • Mobile Phones and Headphones should be kept in students’ lockers and are only to be used when directed by the classroom teacher as part of a learning activity. Students should not be wearing headphones during teacher instruction, when the class is being addressed, or when they are speaking with staff. To encourage social connection and positive interactions, headphones are not to be worn during recess or lunchtime.

  • Headphones for Wellbeing In some cases, students with diagnosed conditions may require the use of noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs to support their learning. In line with the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) policy for special arrangements, such use must be supported by medical documentation (e.g. from a psychologist or psychiatrist) and approved by the Disability and Inclusion Coordinator.
