Last Wednesday the parents of the Kinder students for 2026 gathered in the school hall for a Parent Information session on preparing for the start of the school year in 2026. The Prayer space reflected the sense of faith and community that is so much a part of our school. Look closely and you will see the cute t-shirts that each child received at this session !
This Sunday - 9th November- the candidates who have been preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation will meet at St Mary’s Cathedral for the reception of this Sacrament.
Did you know?
In our Catholic faith, Confirmation is a sacrament of initiation that completes Baptism and strengthens us through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
It involves the bishop (or priest) laying hands on the candidate, anointing them with blessed oil called chrism, and praying for the Holy Spirit to fill them. The rite concludes with a renewal of baptismal promises, a declaration that the person is sealed with the Holy Spirit, and a sign of peace, which signifies the recipient's commitment to live as a mature Christian and witness to their faith.
Can you name the gifts of the Holy Spirit? (These gifts help us to live in the way that Jesus would want us to).
They are: WISDOM UNDERSTANDING KNOWLEDGE COURAGE RIGHT JUDGEMENT REVERENCE WONDER AND AWE IN GOD’S PRESENCE
Please keep these candidates in your Prayers as they prepare to receive this Sacrament !
Coming up ……
As a school we will gather next Tuesday 11th Nov for our Remembrance Day Service.
Remembrance Day marks the anniversary of the guns falling silent on the Western Front In the First World War: This happened at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918.
The first Remembrance Day was held on 11th November 1919, one year after the war ended. As a nation we pause each year on the 11th November at 11am to pause and remember all those who have served and died as a result of war.
It is also a way in which we can ensure that the memories of those who fought and died for our freedom are never forgotten. It is a time to reflect on the horrors of war, the bravery of soldiers, and the impact of their sacrifices on our lives. Through ceremonies, parades, and moments of silence, we come together as a community to honour their memory and express our gratitude.

The day also serves as a reminder of the importance of peace and unity. It prompts us to strive for a world where conflicts are resolved through dialogue and understanding rather than violence. It encourages us to work towards a future where the sacrifices of the past are not in vain.
The final Prayer for the Service reminds us…..
Loving Father,
you always hold and protect us in your love.
Grant eternal rest to those who have died
protecting our nation from the horror of war.
Help us to remember them and honour what they have done by respecting them and never forgetting them.
Where war rages in our world,
we pray that your peace will reign.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
