A Message from Julie...

Dear Families,

It’s been a wonderful and busy start to the term, and it is hard to believe we’re already in Week 6!

Last month, our school proudly supported Socktober, raising awareness and funds for children in need around the world. It was fantastic to see so many creative and colourful socks on display, and even more inspiring to see our students showing such enthusiasm and compassion for a great cause. Thank you to everyone who has donated and joined in the fun.

We’ve also got lots of exciting incursions and excursions planned for the remainder of the term, offering our students wonderful opportunities to explore, learn, and connect beyond the classroom. It’s always rewarding to see the confidence and curiosity that these experiences inspire.

Our recent swimming program was a great success! The students approached each session with enthusiasm and perseverance, and it was fantastic to see their skills and confidence grow. A big thank you to our staff and parent helpers for their support in making the program run so smoothly.

As we move further into Term 4, staff have also begun the careful process of creating classes for 2026. This is a detailed and thoughtful process that takes into account each child’s academic progress, social and emotional development, additional learning needs, and individual support requirements. Our goal is always to create balanced classes where every student can thrive.

Students will be given the opportunity to list a few friends they would like to be with next year, and we will ensure that each child has at least one nominated friend in their 2026 class. We kindly ask families to trust our staff and their professional knowledge of your child when these decisions are made.

To ensure a fair, balanced, and transparent process, we do not accept specific parent requests for class placements. This approach allows staff to consider the needs of all students and to create classes that support a positive learning environment for everyone. Our teachers know your children well — their learning styles, social connections, and the dynamics that help them thrive — and use this knowledge carefully when forming classes.

Finally, I hope everyone enjoyed a well-earned rest and some quality time with family and friends over the long weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready for the exciting weeks ahead.

Warm regards,

Julie McDougall
