Abacus Mental Arithmetic & Maths Logical Thinking
We are excited to launch a brand-new after-school program — Abacus Mental Arithmetic and Maths Logical Thinking — designed to help students strengthen their mathematical foundation in a fun and engaging way. Through hands-on Abacus training and creative logic activities, children will enhance their calculation speed, concentration, memory, and problem-solving skills. The program also introduces students to a fascinating part of Asian heritage, encouraging appreciation of cultural diversity while building confidence and enjoyment in learning maths.

Date: Every Thursday
12th February to 2nd April 2026 (total 8 lessons)
Venue: Room 127, H-Block Belltower, Hurstville Public School, Forest Rd, Hurstville, NSW

Includes: A colourful abacus, homework exercises and access to the online answer-checking APP.
*This program integrates abacus training with logical thinking games to enhance mathematical reasoning, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

We’re delighted to continue the Soccajoeys Program at Hurstville Public School for Term 4 2025.
Soccajoeys is Australia’s leading childhood development program, and they have designed lessons that focus on improving gross motor skills, and coordination, enhancing social development, character building and supporting children’s growth through a range of fun and dynamic Soccer classes.
The program will be run on Tuesdays in Term 4
Parents can register for their preferred day.

Learn to be a chess champion! Coaching for students at Hurstville Public School is held on:
Beginner/Rookie: Wednesdays from 3:15pm to 4:15pm, starting on 15 October 2025.
Intermediate: Wednesdays from 3:15pm to 4:15pm, starting on 15 October 2025 Thursday morning: Thursdays from 8:00am to 8:55am, starting on 16 October 2025.
Learning and playing chess helps children develop their logical thinking and problem solvingskills, improves their concentration and focus, while also being a great source of enjoyment.Activities include group lessons on a demonstration chess board or interactive whiteboard,puzzle solving and fun practice games.
Students earn merit awards by making checkmates, or by displaying skills and positivequalities, which all good chess players strive to develop.
