GOSPEL REFLECTION
John 2:13-22
‘Destroy this sanctuary and in three days I will raise it up’
In this Gospel, Jesus visits the temple in Jerusalem and finds people buying and selling animals, turning a place of prayer into a marketplace. With passion and love for God, Jesus clears the temple and reminds everyone, “Stop making my Father’s house a marketplace!”
At first, this story might seem surprising — we see a strong, determined side of Jesus. But His actions show how deeply He cares about what is holy. Jesus wanted people to remember that the temple was a place to connect with God, not a place for profit or distraction.
For us today, this story reminds us that our hearts are also like temples — places where God’s Spirit lives. Jesus invites us to keep our hearts open, peaceful, and free from things that take us away from God’s love.
The St Liborius school community lives this message by showing respect in our sacred spaces, by praying with sincerity, and by treating one another with care. When we do this, we make our school — and our hearts — true places where God can dwell.
REFLECTION PRAYER
Loving God,
help us to keep our hearts open to You.
May we treat all holy places, and each other, with respect and love.
May our school always be a place where Your Spirit shines.
Amen.
