SEMESTER 2 STUDENT GOALS
Teachers have recently reviewed your child’s Semester 2 learning goals. They have carefully assessed each goal, providing supporting evidence and observations for those that have been successfully achieved. For goals that your child has already met, new goals have been thoughtfully developed to further extend and challenge their learning and personal growth.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing technical issue with SIMON, you will not be able to access PAM at this time to view your child’s updated goals online. We understand this may cause some inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to resolve the issue.
In the meantime, if you would like to review your child’s updated goals, please email your child’s classroom teacher directly. They will be happy to provide you with a printed copy or discuss your child’s progress in more detail.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support of your child’s learning journey.

MOBILEYES DENTAL & OPTOMETRY
Just a heads-up: You'll need to book each option separately! Currently, bookings for the Dental School Program are still light — so if you're interested, now’s a great time to reserve your spot.
Mobileyes Optometry & Dentalhas partnered with us to bring its fully equipped mobile optometry and dental Clinic and AHPRA registered optometrists/Dental staff to our school to conduct check-ups.
Date: Week 8, 24th November - 28th November
The comprehensive eye check-up program is bulk billed (no gap) to Medicare. The examination includes:
- Clarity of vision assessment for Distance and Near
- Internal and external eye health assessment
- Eye co-ordination, binocular vision, Depth perception and colour vision assessment
- Testing Report sent to parents.
One in five Australian children suffers from an undetected vision problem or requires ongoing assessment. Good vision is important for a child’s educational, behavioural and social development and to help them reach their full learning potential. Many children continue to experience undetected and unnecessary vision problems and often they assume that how they see is normal.
The dental screening is a free of charge for eligible students aged 2-17 and provides benefits for the child for basic dental services that includes:
- Dental examination
- Preventive Oral Care, such as oral hygiene assistance, cleaning of teeth and the application of fluoride to the teeth.
This service is provided under the Child Dental Benefits Scheme of the Australian Government.
Early detection of decay and other dental diseases is vital in preventing bigger, more painful, and expensive problems in the future. Left untreated, dental disease is progressive and will result in greater discomfort and is likely lead to permanent problems, such as tooth loss or lasting pain.
Optometry and Dental Consent forms are to be submitted online with either the link or QR code below.
https://mobileyes.com.au/consentform/
We would really like for our students to benefit from this service, so parents please take the time to complete the online consent form for your child. Please see below FAQ regarding both the Optometry and Dental visit.
Kind Regards,
Alannah Darmody
ATTENDANCE
ATTENDANCE
By law children must attend school, so if your child needs to be absent you are required to send a note on return, or, if possible, notify the school prior to the absence. If your child is unable to come to school, please telephone the school or enter the absence form via PAM (Parent Access Module) or email the school at admin@sleaglehawk.catholic.edu.au by 8.55am on the day they are not attending. School attendance is one of the critical factors for success at school therefore any days absent can have an effect on their learning. When appropriate parents should make dental and doctors' appointments outside of school time. If you child arrives at school after 9.00am they are to be signed in at the office and collect a late pass.
NO child may leave the school grounds during the day unless accompanied by an adult or having provided a written note. All children leaving school during the day need to be signed out by an authorised adult. You will need to sign the student out of the school via the Kiosk in the school office.
If your child is late to school, you will need to report into the office to sign your child in and obtain a late pass for your child to give to their teacher.
UNIFORM SHOP
HOURS OF OPERATION
Tuesday 8.45am - 10am
Wednesday 8.45-10am
As families are purchasing items and preparing for the new school year the following information is a reminder about school uniforms! We take great pride in our uniform and would like to remind our families of expectations. Our uniform shop has all requirements and is very well priced with good quality materials! We ask that students do not wear branded clothes (this includes sports shorts and socks.) The sport shorts from the uniform shop are recommended as they are longer in style (as per our SunSmart policy!) Shoes are so important as they work hard! We ask that shoes are fully black (no white soles) and that canvas shoes are not worn (either for formal or sport) Please if you need support with uniforms or have any questions, message us or make contact when we are back at school. We are here to help! Below is the uniform requirements and remember to label all clothing especially jumpers and hats! We will let you know Uniform Shop arrangements. Orders can also be made online.

Conversational skills
Listening, starting a conversation, taking turns, asking questions, answering questions, being relevant, repairing when not understood, ending a conversation, the way we talk (Volume, rate, clarity, intonation,
fluency)
Respectful Relationships:
Practice respectful ways of greeting people:
Encourage these 3 principles when greeting:
- Look at the person (wait, check they are looking at you),
- Say your greeting and their name
- e.g. Hi Peter, Good afternoon Mr Baxter
Wait for a response or question and respond accordingly.
Role play what it might look like if a person is not respectful when greeting or saying good-bye.
Each day when you pick your child up from school, use a different greeting or farewell
e.g. Hi Harry, it’s so great to see you,
Good afternoon, Harry,
Harry, I’ve missed you so much, etc.
Hey Harry it looks like you had a great day.
Maintaining a conversation
It is important that you show the speaker that you are listening and understanding what they are saying. You can do this by nodding, saying things like ‘yep’, ‘mm hmm’, ‘oh, I see’, using eye contact and making different facial expressions. During a conversation with your child, count how many and the type of ways they maintain the conversation. See if they can do that for you. Then try doing none of these in another conversation. It might be tricky! What was it like? How did you both feel?
Ending a conversation
Ending a conversation appropriately can require some practice. You need to be able to read the situation correctly, understand verbal/non-verbal cues of the other person/people involved, know when and what to say to end the conversation appropriately etc. With your child practice or write down examples for the following
steps and things to look out for or do if they want to end a conversation.
- Body language – show them non-verbal cues people may use such as looking away, checking their watch, long silent pauses.
- Words people might use when they want to end a conversation e.g. well, so, anyway..
- Practice and teach phrases they can use if they are not sure e.g. “are you okay to keep talking?”
Practice and teach different ways to end a conversation “Well it was nice to talk to you”, “I have to go to___soon”,
You could also come up with a variety of ways to end a conversation and say goodbye, make this into a competition and see who can say goodbye 3 different ways in a week. For example – I hope you have a good day, I can’t wait to hear about what you did after school, good luck with…. I hope you have fun….
