Netball – School Championships
On Wednesday, 20 August, the College's intermediate and senior netball teams competed at the Netball School Championships in Hamilton. Well done to all the girls who played. They all put in an applaudable effort and demonstrated great sportsmanship.
After training for several months, our senior netball team worked exceptionally well together, showing strong teamwork and consistently encouraging one another throughout the competition. They adapted confidently to playing in different positions and with various team combinations. Overall, the team finished third, winning four games, had another win by forfeit, and lost two matches – one against St Brigid’s from Horsham and the other against Monivae. Big thanks to Mrs Sharnah Malseed for coaching the girls.
Our intermediate team (Year 9/10) had a really enjoyable and the team was a pleasure to coach. The team finished 2nd overall in their category. Unfortunately, they didn’t quite bring their A game against Monivae in Game 2 and went down by 5 goals. They finished the day with 3 strong wins and 2 narrow losses. Our players were very versatile and supportive of each other. It will be great to see these players representing the College in the future. Big thanks to Mrs Emily Hausler for coaching the girls.
Our Junior Netball team (Year 7 and 8) were unfortunately unable to compete at the Netball School Championships this year due to the Year 8 camp taking many of our players. This team, however, is a team to watch. These girls demonstrated excellent skills and teamwork at the ICCES competition at the end of last term, where they secured second place. Big thanks to Miss Elly Dixon for coaching the girls at that competition.
Thank you to the organisers who made this day possible, and our wonderful umpires, who volunteer for our school to make the day possible. An enormous thank you and recognition goes to Mrs Suse McClure and Mrs Susie Holcombe, who are there for our school at School Champs and Saturday mornings at Pedrina Park.

The senior boys enjoyed a sound 5-1 victory over the Devils last Saturday. Taylor Haley with a hat-trick, Ciaran Nelson, and Rupert Merrin scored our goals. We were grateful to Will Cameron, who filled in for us and enjoyed battling against his brother and father! Will played well and also allowed our Captain, Jack Jarvis, to further rest his knee, and Jack was able to coach the team in Dr Hawthorne’s absence at Mittagundi.
Our victory secured the top spot on the ladder, and we face the Rams next Sunday (the time will be late afternoon, but exact details will be confirmed at the time of writing) with the opportunity to win directly through to the Final.
Good sideline support will be welcomed

Division One Women
This week was the last round of the season, with the ladder set and unchangeable, the girls' aim was to give their all in the final round.
Against Dunkeld Blue, we were unlucky to suffer a 1-0 loss, with the goal scored in the first five minutes of the match. However, for the rest of the game, we continued to push and set a wall of defence, keeping them goalless in the final three quarters.
Standouts for the match were Georgia Adams, Sophie Spence, and Hayley Spence, who were stalwarts in the backline. Thank you to everyone for your support throughout the season.
